Innosuisse and armasuisse launch a call for projects in the field of dual-use technologies
Through this initiative, Innosuisse and the Federal Office for Defence Procurement (armasuisse) aim to strengthen research, development and innovation in the fields of security and defence, whilst generating tangible benefits for the economy and civil society. The call for projects focuses on dual-use technologies, i.e. those that can be used in both civilian and security sectors. It contributes to the implementation of the armament policy strategy of the Federal Council and will be launched on 1 July 2026. The budget for this initiative amounts to CHF 20 million and will be shared between Innosuisse and armasuisse.
A national network for scientific advice on crisis prevention and management
Health, cybersecurity, disinformation, geopolitical risks: the challenges facing society call for decisions based on solid scientific findings. The Swiss National Science Advice Network makes independent expert advice from highly qualified researchers available to policymakers and authorities at federal and cantonal level. It is active both preventively and in times of crisis, and fosters a continuous dialogue between science and politics.
Swiss chairmanship of Eureka
From today, Switzerland will be taking over the chairmanship of the intergovernmental Eureka initiative for one year. With its 45 member countries, Eureka is the world’s largest network for innovation.
Federal Council elects Innosuisse Board for 2025–28
On 13 December, the Federal Council re-elected André Kudelski as president, and Sergio Ermotti, Aude Pugin and Anna Valente as members to the Innosuisse Board for the 2025–28 term of office. Kristina Shea, Professor for Engineering Design and Computing at ETH Zurich, was elected as a new board member.
Academic study proves the direct impact that innovation promotion has on revenue and employment
Companies that engage in innovation projects create significantly more jobs. And their revenue also grows more quickly than that of companies without support from Innosuisse. The latest academic research from the Swiss Economic Institute (KOF) at ETH Zurich demonstrates these direct effects of the funding provided for innovation projects.
New Innosuisse director appointed
The new director of Innosuisse is Dominique Gruhl-Bégin. The Federal Council approved her appointment by the Innosuisse Board on 15 May 2024. Ms Gruhl-Bégin will take over the position from 12 August 2024. The current director, Annalise Eggimann, is stepping down for reasons of age, but will continue in her role as chair of the Innosuisse 2024 presidency of TAFTIE, the European network of innovation agencies.
Innosuisse reaches targets set for 2023
The Federal Council approved the annual report of the Swiss Innovation Agency – Innosuisse on 24 April and concluded that the agency is on track to achieve the objectives set for the 2021–2024 dispatch period. Around 600 start-ups were participating in the Innosuisse Start-up Coaching programme at the end of 2023.
Federal Council elects Anna Valente to the board of Innosuisse
On 24 January, the Federal Council elected Anna Valente, professor at the Scuola universitaria professionale della Svizzera italiana (SUPSI), to the board of Innosuisse with effect from 1 February.
Innosuisse launches new call for projects for the Swiss Accelerator
The Swiss Innovation Agency is launching the second call for projects for the Swiss Accelerator. With this funding programme, Innosuisse is supporting innovation projects of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and start-ups that have already entered the market. Applications can be submitted as of today.
